What do i need to know about a guitar pedal board?

I'm interested in getting a pedal board but I am very confused. How do
i power the pedal board? What types of chords do i need to plug
EVERYTHING in? How many pedals do I need? If i go over that then can i
still power them all? How many pedals can a pedal board hold? How to I
connect my amp, pedal board, and guitar?
